Shiells Canyon CO2 Plant
Problems
- New production was causing sales gas quality to decrease because of higher CO2 content.
Solutions
- A new Amine Plant was constructed (by others) to strip the CO2 out of the sales gas stream.
- Installed a PLC to control the new Amine Plant.
- A new HMI was installed (by others) to allow the operators to interact with the PLC and to control process conditions.
- A new satellite-based SCADA system was installed (by others) to allow operators to remotely access remote flow meters.
- Added a phone dialer to the SCADA system to alert operators to any alarms or abnormal process conditions.
Results
- Increased product quality.
- More productive employees.
