Shiells Canyon CO2 Plant

Problems

  • New production was causing sales gas quality to decrease because of higher CO2 content.

Solutions

  • A new Amine Plant was constructed (by others) to strip the CO2 out of the sales gas stream.
  • Installed a PLC to control the new Amine Plant.
  • A new HMI was installed (by others) to allow the operators to interact with the PLC and to control process conditions.
  • A new satellite-based SCADA system was installed (by others) to allow operators to remotely access remote flow meters.
  • Added a phone dialer to the SCADA system to alert operators to any alarms or abnormal process conditions.

Results

  • Increased product quality.
  • More productive employees.
